Updates

Words from the social space.

Part of getting the Gestalt Prologue publicly viewable has been all the little systems... Like the map that updates where the characters are as the reader progresses through chapters. Got a lot of that done today, and am very happy with the 'scribble' direction the project has been taking visually. I inflict upon you a WIP pic. Credit to StarRaven for the PS brushes.

With the move (mostly) done and servers all tidied up, I can confidently say I'm officially back to work on projects. Scribbles shall commence immediately. Priority is on catching up with articles and getting the prologue of Gestalt online so there's SOMETHING in the Playground. But there's some idle bits still being handled on other projects too - programming and styling stuff when an idea strikes.

With the system migration and my own relocation eating up reality a small bit, I won't be getting an article up this month. Sorry! I will endeavor to complete two for next month to make up for this slight against the Storyteller's good name.

I've updated a new test story for the Gestalt system so we can run one final bit of testing. This means progress has been reset for folks playing with it. Presuming positive feedback, we'll be opening the system up to more folks after the next update!

Ever been working on a project, get really far into it, be really proud of it, then realize there's a mistake? So you of course ask yourself "How long has THAT been there?" ... And then you figure out it's been there the whole time? Well. Yeah. For those of you who noticed it on the site... I fixed it. For those that didn't -- *it was never there.*

Playground

The whozits and whatzits.

Oh no! I haven't gotten anything far enough to play around with. This is an upset! Rail against the updates and the Discord channels until something comes to fruition!

Projects

This is what it's all about.

These are the projects I am currently planning/working on. If I'm a good boy, some may eventually make their way to the playground for folks to enjoy.

Gestalt

A choose-your-own-adventure styled interactive story that sees corporate espionage in the middle of a supernatural mystery.

Daedolun Font

Several of the magical runic symbols used in the Ahtarra setting converted into a truetype font, so it can be used on sites like this one.

Redan's Delve

A three-part short story written for audio, following a treasure hunter's fateful dive into a locally famous and dangerous dungeon.

Havensfall

A narrative game collaboration with Discord. Become a rising werewolf of Riansen and navigate the lines of war and peace with other supernaturals.

The Eclipse Rune

Web-based territory control game that brings Riansen's secret struggles for power and influence to a larger region in a faction-based story.

A Crystal Moon

Graphic novel collaboration project centering on a pair of hunters and their investigation into a small woodland farming town.

Servitor Seven

A glimpse into the regular workings of the Marilith Zone through the output of a Communications Relay Servitor doing its nominal duties.

"Everybody walks past a thousand story ideas every day. The good writers are the ones who see five or six of them. Most people don't see any."

Personal

I like to tell stories.

I write, I design, I develop, I build - I simply love to create new tales in any way enjoyable. Short form, open mic, roleplay, scripting, serial, or even crafts... If I can accomplish it I enjoy telling tales with it. And there are plenty of other ways I have yet to explore!

In the corporate world, my work with tales has helped companies engage better with their employees and support healthier work environments. Why a company exists and what they're attempting to do is simply another story after all, and each employee plays a part. Being aware of the stories we are a part of and the stories we tell ourselves makes life (another story) much easier to navigate and be at peace with.

But eventually I wanted to do more than just tell everyone else's stories. I wanted to make some of my own. Something of fiction. Something of entertainment. Still something fulfilling, still something that's explorative, but something of hobby and freedom that gives an easy space to pour all sorts of creative energies.

So here we are. Here I can tell my stories, help others tell their stories, and keep a roof over my head. Here you'll find projects both personal and professional aimed at either expanding my collection of tales or playing at improving the craft on any medium. Some are for show and to browse, while others are toys available to be used freely, and a few are polished products for distribution or consumption. To help with that roof bit. Above all, the goal here is to provide something unique and interesting for others to enjoy and play with... Because not all of that creative energy is just for me!

Everything available here is either of my own making or contains at least some contribution of mine and is designed for entertainment purposes only. Milepost Concepts is in no way affiliated with the producers of any products or material - in case I do make any references to other recognized properties, all rights belong to their respective owners. And since I also do a lot of collaborations: anything included in purchasable items is used with permission. I'm here to have fun and keep the lights on not step on other creators' toes!
